About this statement

This accessibility statement applies to the SLS website, operated by Supported Living Services Ltd.

We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. The website operator is not a public-sector body, so the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) Accessibility Regulations 2018 do not apply to it. We nonetheless choose to follow that standard voluntarily as good practice, and the responsible service organisation also has duties under the Equality Act 2010 to make reasonable adjustments for disabled users.

The standard we aim for

We aim to meet Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA. WCAG 2.2 builds on 2.1 and adds nine new success criteria covering keyboard focus, drag movements, redundant entry, accessible authentication, and minimum target sizes.

What we have done so far

To make this website accessible, we have:

• Used semantic HTML to give pages a clear, logical structure.
• Made interactive elements keyboard-navigable.
• Avoided content that flashes or causes visual disturbances.
• Designed for a wide range of devices including mobile, tablet and desktop.
• Used plain English wherever possible.
• Respected the prefers-reduced-motion setting for animations in the chat widget.

Testing and known limitations

Our latest site-wide code and rendered-page checks found:

• Every published page has a skip-to-content link and one main heading.
• Rendered images have alternative text or are explicitly marked as decorative.
• Pages remain within the mobile viewport at 390px wide without horizontal scrolling.
• The homepage background videos are silent and decorative, so they do not require captions.
• Some older PDF documents linked from the site are not fully accessible. If you need any of these in an alternative format, please ask and we will provide it.

Automated checks cannot identify every accessibility barrier. A manual keyboard and screen-reader review remains part of the pre-publication process, and we will record any issues found here.

How to ask for content in an alternative format

If you need information from this website in a different format — for example, large print, easy read, audio, braille, or a different language — please contact us. We aim to respond within 5 working days.

Compatibility with assistive technology

This website is designed to work with:

• Screen readers including NVDA, JAWS and VoiceOver.
• Browser zoom up to 200%.
• Keyboard-only navigation.
• Voice recognition software.
