About this statement

This accessibility statement applies to the SLS group website. The website is jointly operated by Supported Living Services Ltd (Company No. 10359397, registered office 49 Waddington Road, London, E15 1QL) and SLS Housing Association (a charitable Community Benefit Society at the same registered office, FCA Mutuals Public Register No. 9778).

We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. SLS is not a public-sector body, so the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) Accessibility Regulations 2018 do not apply to us. We nonetheless choose to follow that standard voluntarily as good practice, and we also have duties under the Equality Act 2010 to make reasonable adjustments for disabled users of our services.

The standard we aim for

We aim to meet Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA. WCAG 2.2 builds on 2.1 and adds nine new success criteria covering keyboard focus, drag movements, redundant entry, accessible authentication, and minimum target sizes.

What we have done so far

To make this website accessible, we have:

• Used semantic HTML to give pages a clear, logical structure.
• Made interactive elements keyboard-navigable.
• Avoided content that flashes or causes visual disturbances.
• Designed for a wide range of devices including mobile, tablet and desktop.
• Used plain English wherever possible.
• Respected the prefers-reduced-motion setting for animations in the chat widget.

Known issues we are working on

We are honest about where the site does not yet meet WCAG 2.2 AA. As of the date above, the following are known to need attention and have been scheduled for fixing:

• No skip-to-content link on every page.
• Some background images use generic alt text rather than describing or being marked decorative.
• Some accreditation logos use very short alt text that does not give full context.
• A small number of pages have heading hierarchy that skips levels.
• Some inline icons rely on Unicode symbols rather than properly labelled SVG icons.
• The autoplaying video on the homepage has no caption track; we will add captions if the video conveys spoken or essential textual content.
• Colour-contrast spot checks have identified a small number of muted-grey-on-white combinations that may not meet the 4.5:1 ratio for normal text.
• Some older PDF documents linked from the site are not fully accessible. If you need any of these in an alternative format, please ask and we will provide it.

A full automated audit (using axe-core or equivalent) and a manual screen-reader review are scheduled before this statement is published. We will refresh this section with audit results when complete.

If you need information from this website in a different format — for example, large print, easy read, audio, braille, or a different language — please contact us. We aim to respond within 5 working days.

Compatibility with assistive technology

This website is designed to work with:

• Screen readers including NVDA, JAWS and VoiceOver.
• Browser zoom up to 200%.
• Keyboard-only navigation.
• Voice recognition software.

This statement was prepared on 26 May 2026. The website was tested against WCAG 2.2 Level AA using a combination of static code review, manual testing, and automated tooling. The next planned review is 26 May 2027, or sooner if there is a major redesign.
